Carl Zeiss Inc
As an internationally leading technology enterprise operating in the fields of optics and optoelectronics, this new facility serves as the company's Michigan headquarters and consolidates four existing facilities into one location. The new building serves as a state-of-the-art multifunctional work setting with a focus on its customers. The two-story office building adjoins to a single-story showroom and high-bay lab area. It also includes an open purpose and dining area, warming kitchen, conference rooms, collaborative spaces, and customer training areas. With sensitivity to the surrounding area, the project team designed the new facility in a way that ensured the surrounding wetlands on the site would not be disturbed. Its placement on the site as well as the shape of the building supports this effort and preserves the wetlands. The back courtyard overlooks the wetlands, providing building users with a view of the natural area. The exterior of the building is visually appealing with a glazed curtainwall and metal panels.
