Alamance Community College

Biotechnology Center of Excellence

Designed for maximum flexibility and future expansion, the building has a modern design meant to become a landmark for the area with ample use of glass and natural light. The first floor features classrooms with soundproof partitioning, a research greenhouse and office spaces. The second floor is dedicated to laboratory space while the third floor is shelled out for future expansions.

The laboratories are truly state-of-the-art, featuring advanced equipment and instrumentation to facilitate cutting-edge research and experimentation. Students have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Market fluctuations and supply chain issues created several challenges for this project. The project team worked closely with the owner and design team through pre-construction and procurement to overcome these issues, develop savings for the owner during buyout and ensure schedule goals were met.
