CONTEST RULES AND INFORMATION

  • PAYMENT: For all NY Council events, make check payable to NY Twirling Council. All other events, payment should be made payable to the organization listed. NYS Championships: payment is by Money Order or Cashier’s Check ONLY!
  • ORDER OF EVENTS: Doors open at 7:00AM. Contest starts at 8:00AM with event left to Contest Director’s discretion. Compulsories start at 9AM and will be available as long as an evaluator is present. You must bring your Athlete Record Book in order to be evaluated. If you do NOT you will NOT be evaluated.  Books can be purchased for $6 at the contests. Teams start at 10:00AM followed by Foundation Events, Strut, Dance Twirl (Solo & Pairs), Solo, 2 Baton, 3 Baton and Solo Pairs.
  • At the completion of Advanced Solo, the Freestyle critiques will be completed. CATEGORIES:  Novice: never won a first.  Beginner: less than 5 firsts.  Intermediate: less than 10 firsts.  Semi (Non Sanctioned): less than 15 firsts. Advanced: 15 or more firsts.**(Advanced, as sanctioned is 10 or more firsts.)  Twirl Offs DO NOT COUNT.  All awards regardless of organization, with the exception of USTA Strut count in your advancement.
  • NYS: Solo Events will run Beginner, Intermediate, and NYS Championships & Finals within each event. NYS Festival of the Future events/age categories may be combined at the discretion of the Contest Director.
  • CONTEST DIRECTOR:  Reserves the right to make any changes necessary. No changes may be made once an entry is received.  ONLY errors made by the contest director will be corrected.  Phone entries are discouraged and may be taken at the discretion of the contest director.  NO ENTRIES will be accepted the day of the contest. (Exception: Compulsories, which is at the discretion of the contest director. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED).
  • TEAM DIRECTORS:  Must supply comment tapes at local contests or no comments may be given.  Additional Team Entries may be Xeroxed.  An entry box for each contest may be brought to the previous contest.  Groups performing for COMMENTS ONLY-receive no award.
  • ADMISSION: Adults: $6, Senior Citizens/Children/Current NYTC Members: $4, Children Under 5 FREE.  Current NYTC Members: You MUST show your current NYTC Membership Card.  Admission includes all local contests and each day of the NYS Championships.
  • CONTEST DEADLINES: ALL CONTEST DEADLINES ARE RECEIVED BY THE CONTEST DIRECTOR, INCLUDING NYS CHAMPIONSHIPS. See entry form for info. NY Council Events will not accept phone entries and entries left in boxes must be accompanied by check. Please get your entries in on time.
  • LOCAL CONTEST PROGRAMS:  May be Pre-Ordered for $1.50.  If available and purchased at the contest: $2.00.
  • USTA MEMBERSHIP:  You must be a member of USTA in order to enter any USTA competition.  If you are not a current USTA member when you submit your entry then you must include the $8 member for a day fee. (Please note USTA membership fees other than the member for s day cannot be accepted by anyone other than the National USTA member services office.
  • AGE ELIGIBILITY:  Athletes will compete at the age they will be during the calendar year January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.

NOTE:  Effective 9/1/11 as per the new York Council’s Board of Directors:
For compulsory/movement technique evaluations; ONLY levels C-BII will receive achievement ribbons.

NOTE:  Effective 9/1/11 as per the USTA Board of Directors:
USTA Dance Twirl Solo and Dance Twirl Pairs: Will use the WBTF “Artistic Twirl” music selection.

 USTA will now offer “Show Team”.  This event is similar to Show Corp in nature EXCEPT for the number 
 of members needed and a shorter time limit.  (No further information was available at the time of this 
 printing.  Please check the USTA rulebook and/or web site for updates and rules.)

Tiny Tots - all members must be 7 or under.

Groups have the option of competing in an older age division than that of the average age if there is at least one member whose age is within that higher age division.
 
(A 25% personnel change is required to enter additional age divisions.)
